Latin Fiesta!

I got this idea from my girlfriend....Last year on my son's birthday, she was wondering why I hadn't included in the party a tradition from my country, I think she was expecting something like on "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" a noisy party full of people, food and music :-). Well.... this year I'd like to follow her advice,  nothing really big, just a little bit of my childhood tradition. But I've been searching on line without any luck, there is nothing useful about that on the Internet. I'm pretty sure that there are other moms or dads who would like the idea of throwing a latin fiesta for their kids. Definitly playing music in Spanish would be fun, and maybe teaching the kids a song that they could easily remember would be terrific! But what about the decoration and food? Have you ever had a latin fiesta for your child? any suggestion?

Strategies to teach your child a second language

Dos_bebes_2 Finally I think I found the right place to start this blog, it was about time! :-) There are so many things to share with other parents who are raising their kids to be bilingual or multilingual, there are so many things to learn too. My native language is Spanish so if I make mistakes with my English please forgive me, I think I can't depend on my husband all the time. Well, this is our story....we have two boys 4 and 2 years old and they are growing bilingual, I speak Spanish all the time with them and my husband communicates with them in English (his native language), he speaks a little bit of Spanish and he's learning more with my oldest child, now he teaches his daddy :-) I feel very happy about the results, I'm doing my best to involve them with many activities in Spanish, we play, we sing, we listen to music in Spanish and they enjoy playing with their bilingual toys. We also attend a playgroup every week in Spanish of course! So, there are many strategies that we all can use to get them involve in a second language, I'd like you to share your own experience and what you think is working best for you.
